Release Notes System Requirements May 30th, 2007 Suiterunner landed!The SeaMonkey community just made its first step into getting SeaMonkey running on top of XULRunner.After the Firefox birth, some code was rewritten and some was written from the scratch, and the non-exclusive browser content was migrated to toolkits. The Suite was using its old code, being maintained by the community, until yesterday.The project created to conduct SeaMonkey's transition to toolkits was called Suiterunner, due to the running on XULRunner long run goal.As the first big step of this project, which started one year and for months ago, now the SeaMonkey trunk builds are built on top of toolkits by default. A lot of work has been done and there still a lot of work have to be done.The most important effect of this change is that SeaMonkey is sharing a lot more of code with Firefox, so both will benefit from this.The SeaMonkey team will be able to invest a lot more on enhancements, for instance. February 28th, 2007 SeaMonkey 1.1.1 released!Following the Gecko security update releases a few days ago, the SeaMonkey project issued new security and stability releases today for its all-in-one internet application suite. SeaMonkey 1.1.1 is now available for download, fixing several security vulnerabilities as well as a list of problems users of SeaMonkey 1.1 reported to developers. Release Notes System Requirements January 18th, 2007 SeaMonkey 1.1 released!Powered by the same engine as Firefox 2 and the upcoming Thunderbird 2, SeaMonkey 1.1 includes numerous enhancements including more visible security indicators in the browser and enhanced phishing detection for e-mail, a new tagging system for e-mail that supersedes labels, support for multi-line tooltips in web pages, and previews images in tab tooltips. Other changes include inline spell checking in the browser, an updated version of ChatZilla, and a significantly improved startup script on Linux. - A warning page is now shown before displaying about:config.
- Spelling is checked when writing in textareas.
- You can choose whether to have context menu web searches open in a new page or new tab. [Edit-->Preferences-->Browser-->Internet Search]
- Tooltips from web pages can now be multiple lines, either due to automatic text wrapping or explicit newlines added to the text value.
- When using keyword URLs, it is no longer necessary to type "keyword:" (typing "keyword:" will no longer work). Just type the keyword name.
- You can now drop URLs and bookmarks between existing tabs, which will result in a new tab being created where you dropped the URL.
- When hovering on a tab, the tooltip now displays a preview of the tab's contents.
- The Windows Media Player plug-in now recognizes verion 9.
- The search sidebar now behaves better.
- The bookmarks menu and personal toolbar folder overflow menu now have context menus.
Mail & Newsgroups - Message labelling has been superceded by tagging, which provides much more than the original 5 labels and comes with new preferences.
- The preferences for junk mail have been reorganized, and can now be set on a per-account basis.
- Integration with server side spam filtering.
- Improved phishing detection.
- Drafts, Templates, and Sent folder are not created until they are needed.
- [Linux, Mac] New mail notification has been improved.
- You can now disable the tray icon, when being notifitied of new mail.
- "Reset Training Data" button for Junk Mail Controls.
- Option to place replies in the folder of the message being replied to.
- When inserting an image into a message, there is a checkbox to send it as a remote image.
- Newsgroup accounts can now check for new messages at startup.
- You can now rebuild the index file (MSF) of a folder/newsgroup, by right-clicking on it, selecting "Properties", and clicking on "Rebuild Index".
- Newsgroup unread counts no longer disappear in mid-session.
- Character Encoding preferences for mail have been moved to their own sub-panel.
- Global Inbox is off by default, when creating a new mail account.
- Spell checker languages are now stored in \SeaMonkey\dictionaries\, rather than \SeaMonkey\components\myspell\.
- It is now possible to move or copy cards between address books. Cards can only be copied to mailing lists, so you need to use ctrl key while dragging to copy the card to the mailing list. When dragging cards between address books, the default action is move, use ctrl to copy instead.
General - ChatZilla has been updated to a newer version.
- There is now an option to have ChatZilla open when SeaMonkey starts.
- [Mac] Menus and menu popups use more native styling.
- [Linux] When launching SeaMonkey, already-running instances are detected.
- SSL2 and other weak ciphers are now disabled.
- The "Display Resolution" item has been removed from the Preferences panel.

You can tweak this feature by changing browser.sessionhistory.max_total_viewers from -1 to another number (Calculated based on available RAM).
- Drag and drop reordering for browser tabs. You can also reorder tabs using the keyboard by focusing the tab bar and then pressing Ctrl+Left, Ctrl+Right, Ctrl+Home, or Ctrl+End.
- It is possible to open a bookmark in a new tab with ctrl+click/middle click
- SeaMonkey's pop-up blocker is greatly improved over the Mozilla Suite, including blocking pop-ups from plug-ins.
- SeaMonkey users can unblock a blocked popup from the Show item on the Tools -> Popup Manager menu or the context menu item on the pop-up indicator icon in the statusbar.
- You can specify the default directory for downloads.
- Autoscroll support - middle clicking an empty part of a page allows for scrolling by moving the mouse
- Dragging a link onto the New Tab toolbar button opens that link in a new tab. If dragged onto the Home toolbar button, that link will become your new homepage.
- When you close a tab, the browser will select the tab which you last selected if you have not selected or opened any other tabs since the current tab was opened and you have the "Switch to new tabs opened from links" preference enabled
- Power users can set preferences that force links that would open new windows into tabs
- Users have a simple tool for reporting websites that aren't working in SeaMonkey. If installed (Reporter is a custom install option for this release) the tool can be accessed from "Report Broken Website" on the SeaMonkey Help menu.
- Basic FTP upload UI.
- FTP users are prompted to input a name and password if anonymous access fails.
- Users can disable CSS via Use Style -> None or a global preference
- Search plugins are stored in the profile directory.
- (Windows) You can set a pref to change backspace to scroll up or do nothing instead of going back
- SVG and <canvas> are supported (except GTK1).
- When viewing images, tab icons now display thumbnails of the displayed image.
- You can specify actions for mice with alternate/horizontal scrolling
- SeaMonkey can query the list of printers through CUPS
- Find in This Page also searches inside textarea and text input boxes.
- SeaMonkey's History shows the referrer.
- The Page Info window is improved.
- The resize of large images to fit the browser window will restore the image to the larger size centered at the click location.
- SeaMonkey supports unprompted NTLM authentication
- With SeaMonkey, users can log out of all sites using HTTP Basic authentication. To log out of an auth session, use Tools -> Password Manager -> Log Out.
- SeaMonkey includes keyboard accessibility for the SeaMonkey Help window and improved keyboard accessibility for the Linux installer.
- Intellimouse Explorer Backwards and Forwards buttons are supported on Linux.
- "Close Other Tabs" has a confirmation dialog similar to closing a browser window with multiple tabs open.
- SeaMonkey has underlined accesskey mnemonics in the labels for XUL checkboxes and radio buttons. This makes dialogs easier to use with the keyboard.
- SeaMonkey uses gtk2 native keybindings for input and textareas.
- Linux SeaMonkey builds include the spellcheck in the default install.
- (Linux, Windows) When Caret Browsing (F7) mode is on, the Home and End keys move to the start or end of the line, rather than the document.
- (Windows) "Set As Wallpaper" does not require Administrator privileges.
- (Linux) The Print dialog has a "Print to File" checkbox to prompt for a file.
- The context menu key shows the context menu at a useful position.
- (Windows) Clipboard copying matches IE more closely (copies address of page too).
- (Windows 9x) Alt+Tab keystrokes do not activate the menu bar.
- MacOS X: SeaMonkey disk image using embedded compression.

- Background tabs cannot set the status bar

- You can switch the direction of a page or a text field
- Serif/Sans Serif fonts preferences are per-language
- The JavaScript console correctly displays long messages in last to first order
- Copy Image copies the pixel data as well as the location (some applications require you to use Paste Special to choose the image).
- CSS at-rule for matching on site/document URL. The new @-moz-document rule gives users the ability to match page objects per-site, using CSS. This makes it possible to include site-specific rules in user style sheets (userContent.css). David Baron's post to www-style explains how the rule can be used.
Mail & Newsgroups - UI for multiple identity support.
- Global Inbox which allows you to manage multiple POP3 accounts from the same folder hierarchy.
- Support for deleting attachments from messages
- Virtual Folder allows you to save a search as a folder (either a search within a single folder, or an account-wide search, or a search of a folder and its sub-folders).
- Mailnews has a location toolbar [View -> Show/Hide -> Location Toolbar]
- You can auto save draft messages
- Spell check as you type for Mail Compose
- You can easily set the delay before mail messages are marked as read
- Support for message aging. Automatically deleting messages from folders after they reach a certain age
- Users have an option to mark incoming junk mail as read.
- SeaMonkey can connect securely to incoming servers that support TLS
- You can select flagged messages
- Server wide news filters are implemented.
- You can filter and search for messages by size.
- You can search and create views for flagged messages.
- Addressbook auto-completion is better.
- You can hide the folder pane from the View -> Show/Hide submenu.
- SeaMonkey supports the Outlook 2003-style three column layout.
- Junk-mail filtering accuracy is better.
- Email addresses can be copied from the address book sidebar.
- Preferred mail format (plain text or HTML) is collected and remembered in the Personal Address Book.
- There is an option "Preserve threading when sorting messages" for MailNews. With this enabled, clicking on a column header to sort your messages no longer turns off the threaded message grouping. This way it is easier to sort threads by arbitrary sort criteria.
- News supports displaying the size column in KB or in Lines (via a hidden pref).
- News message can be reloaded if it failed due to a temporary network error
- SeaMonkey fixes an issue with listboxes that caused mail to display multiple attachments incorrectly. Additionally, mail sorting scrolls to keep the currently selected message in view.
- The Mail window menus have are adjusted to improve usability and resizing the mail window no longer resizes the folderpane.
- You can use one form of WPAD proxy. The advanced manual proxy settings have been moved to their own dialog. You can use your SOCKS proxy as your DNS server.
- Eudora import is better.
- The AOL online presence check within the address book is disabled by default. Use Tools -> Check Online Presence if you wish to turn it back on
- You don't need to close and reopen Mail to change the layout.
- Anti-virus support can be enabled via a hidden preference.
- You can set a hidden preference so that newsgroups are marked read when you finish reading them
Composer - You can now easily make the Return key start a new paragraph when composing HTML
